The workspace

The regions of the RTL++ workspace: the top bar, the rail, the lenses, the waveform dock and the right panel, and the command bar that reaches all of them.

The workspace is one surface with panels floating over it. Every region resizes by dragging its edge, and the layout is remembered in this browser. Reset the layout from the command bar.

Top bar
The project name (click to rename), the command bar, Run, Build, Export zip and Share. The mark on the left goes back to your projects.
Rail
Files, Hierarchy, Tests and Problems, each one collapsible. ⌘1 hides and shows it.
Lenses
Code, Schematic, State machine, Board and Build. One lens fills the area, or two sit side by side with ⌘\.
Waveform dock
Closed until a run makes a waveform, then below the lenses. ⌘J toggles it.
Right panel
The Assistant (⌘I), the Inspector (⌘E), or Why this value. Closed until you open one.

The command bar

⌘K opens one box that finds files, modules, signals, tests and commands, ranked as you type. A prefix narrows it:

TypeTo
uartSearch everything
> buildSearch commands only
# stateSearch symbols and signals only
@12.3usMove the waveform cursor to 12.3 µs
:42 or :42:7Go to line 42, column 7, of the open file
A questionAsk the assistant

⌘P opens it on files and ⇧⌘P on commands.

The Inspector

The Inspector holds the project settings: the top module, the board, the device and the pin constraint file, written to rtlpp.toml. Below them are your engine preferences, kept in this browser: the pause before live diagnostics, seeds per build, values in code, and whether a failure opens the waveform. The keyboard shortcuts are listed last.

Context menus

Right click a file, a module in the hierarchy, a test or a problem for what you can do with it: run a test, open its waveform, set the top module, use a file as the constraints, copy a hierarchical path, or ask the assistant about it.
