Working with the assistant
Ask the RTL++ assistant about a design, a failing test or a waveform. It reads your files, edits them, runs the tests, builds and traces values through the same engines you use.
Open it with ⌘I, or type a question in the command bar. Ask the assistant under a failing test, Explain on a problem, Pipeline it on a slow path and Describe it on a new project ask for you, with the test, the time, the path or the message attached. The assistant needs you to be signed in; a question asked before signing in is kept and asked once you are back.
Why does tb_uart_rx fail at 12.3 µs? Write a PWM module with an 8-bit duty cycle and a testbench for it What limits the clock frequency of this design?
For a failing test the deterministic Why chain comes first: the value, what it should have been, and each step back to the line that caused it, free and at once. The assistant starts from it.
What it can do
- Read
- Any file, find where a module or signal is defined and used, and the current diagnostics.
- Edit
- Change or create files with exact replacements, shown to you as a diff.
- Run
- The tests, the same way Run does, so the Tests rail and the waveform show the result.
- Build
- Synthesize, place and route for the project's device, for utilization and timing.
- Read waveforms
- Values at a time, the edges of a signal, and when a condition first holds.
- Trace
- The same walk as Why this value, from a signal at a time.
- Link
- A moment link to a test at a time, for you to share.
It sees the project as it is now before every step: the files, the top module, the device, the diagnostics, the last run and the waveform in the dock. A conversation belongs to the open project, and keeps running if you close the panel. Stop ends a turn at once. History, in the panel header, lists this project's conversations.
Every file and line, time, signal, test and note an answer names is a link: it opens the line, moves the waveform cursor, selects the signal, shows the test or opens the note.
